Review: INNSiDE by Meliá Liverpool – Stylish Hotel With a Sky Bar View

Last Updated on 24/10/2026 by Mayi

A city break, for me, usually involves plenty of walking, stopping to photograph buildings and finding somewhere for coffee along the way. In late September 2026, I joined my sister in Liverpool while she was there for work and spent three nights at INNSiDE by Meliá Liverpool. We paid privately for the stay, and breakfast was included in our booking.

It gave me a convenient base for exploring, with the waterfront within reach and somewhere to come back to for dinner or a drink. Between walks around Royal Albert Dock, street art in the Baltic Triangle and an unexpected vintage record sale at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, I also made time to enjoy the hotel.

There were several things I liked: the reception décor, artwork on the first floor, breakfast and a mocktail at the sky bar. The room was spacious and wonderfully quiet, although the open bathroom layout offered less privacy than I would have liked. Our stay also coincided with a conference, which pushed up the room rate.

Here’s my INNSiDE Liverpool review, including what I enjoyed and what I’d consider before booking again.

Location

INNSiDE Liverpool is on Old Hall Street. For the kind of exploring I wanted to do, the location worked well: I could head towards the waterfront, see the Three Graces and continue along the river towards Royal Albert Dock.

That was one of the things I appreciated most. Liverpool’s waterfront is somewhere I like to take my time, with the grand buildings around Pier Head, dockside warehouses and views across the Mersey providing plenty of reasons to stop for photos.

During this trip, I also explored Liverpool ONE, Chinatown, Liverpool Cathedral, Quirky Quarter and the Baltic Triangle. They weren’t all immediately outside the hotel, so I planned my wandering around different parts of the city rather than assuming everything was on the doorstep.

The Baltic Triangle was my favourite neighbourhood this time, particularly for its street art. I stopped at BOXPARK but found the music too loud for the quieter break I wanted, so I went to Le Viet Social instead and tried Vietnamese coffee for the first time.

For more about those stops, read my things to do in Liverpool guide.

The building, lobby and lounge

The reception area was one of my favourite parts of the hotel. I liked the decoration, and it made a welcoming first impression when we arrived.

The lounge had tan leather seating, plants and warm wood tones, and I particularly liked the black-and-white butterfly artwork.

I also enjoyed looking at the artwork on the first floor. Those details gave the communal spaces some personality and were a part of the stay I remembered afterwards. If you enjoy noticing art and interiors when you travel, have a look around rather than heading straight to your room.

My standard room at INNSiDE Liverpool

We stayed in a standard double room, which was a comfortable base for the three nights. It gave me what I needed between heading out to explore and returning to get ready for the evening.

My room was on the 16th floor, with a king-size bed and a simple, pale-wood design. There was also a pantry-style corner with shelving, a small table and stools, which added somewhere to sit with a drink or snack.

The design was simple, but the room felt roomy. I appreciated being on the 16th floor, and the view was pleasant enough, even if it wasn’t the main feature of the stay.

What really stood out was the sound insulation. We didn’t hear any outside noise at all during our stay, which made it easy to retreat from the city after being out exploring.

The open bathroom: my main reservation

The shower was good, and the toilet was in a separate compartment. However, the rest of the bathroom area was open to the bedroom: as soon as you stepped out of the shower, you were effectively back in the room.

Sharing with my sister, I would have preferred more privacy. It’s the detail I’d most want to know before booking, especially when sharing with a friend or family member. This describes our room; check the layout of your chosen room category if a fully enclosed bathroom matters to you.

A small detail I appreciated: drinks in the fridge

One of my favourite practical touches was having bottled water and San Pellegrino flavoured drinks in the fridge, refreshed during our stay.

After being out walking, it was lovely to come back and find something cold to drink. It isn’t a dramatic feature, but it’s the sort of detail that makes a room feel more welcoming.

That describes what was provided during our visit; check the inclusions for your own room and rate when booking.

Breakfast at INNSiDE Liverpool

Breakfast was included in our rate, and we ate at the hotel over the three mornings. The buffet included yoghurt, granola and fruit, as well as cold meats, cheeses and cooked options. I tried a mix of scrambled eggs, mushrooms and hash browns, along with pastries and fresh fruit.

I liked having a choice between cooked options and something lighter. Over a three-night stay, there was enough variety for me to choose different things without feeling I was repeating exactly the same breakfast each morning.

It was also convenient to eat before heading out, especially with my sister there for work. I still fitted in café stops while exploring, but we didn’t need to start each day searching for breakfast.

Check your booking carefully if breakfast matters to you: having eaten it during my stay doesn’t mean it is included in every room rate.

Dinner at Gino D’Acampo Old Hall Street

On our first evening, my sister and I had dinner at Gino D’Acampo, the restaurant in the hotel.

I ordered calamari and my sister chose bruschetta, and we shared both starters. We each had our own main: ricotta and spinach ravioli for me, and chicken for her. We finished by sharing a chocolate hazelnut dessert.

We enjoyed the food, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere made it a pleasant way to begin the trip. It was also nice to have dinner without needing to head out again.

My one criticism was the size of the ravioli portion. I enjoyed it, but it felt small for the price. That wouldn’t put me off eating there again, although it is worth mentioning alongside the things we liked.

These were our choices during the stay; menus and prices may change.

The Sky Bar on the 18th floor

I also went to the hotel’s sky bar for a mocktail. It was one of the highlights of the stay and a nice way to spend part of an evening without leaving the building.

The venue is called 360 Sky Bar, on the 18th floor according to both Meliá and the bar’s official website. Its windows look out over the river and city, giving you another perspective on the waterfront you’ve been exploring below.

It was quite quiet when I visited, and I didn’t need to book. I enjoyed being able to head up for a drink without organising an evening out. That was my experience on the day; check ahead if you’re planning a visit at a particularly busy time.

First floor: gallery, meeting space and recreation area

The first floor deserves a mention of its own. Alongside the artwork I enjoyed, there were framed football shirts, colourful pieces around the meeting areas, and spaces containing a pool table and a foosball table.

These details gave the hotel more character than I expected from somewhere that also caters for business stays. I haven’t assumed that every meeting or recreation space is freely available to guests, so check with reception if you want to use a particular room or table.

Was INNSiDE Liverpool good value?

My sister made the booking, so I don’t know the exact nightly rate. I do know it was higher than normal because there was a conference that week. As we paid privately, the price was still a consideration, but I can’t give a precise cost comparison without the booking total.

Breakfast was included, which is worth taking into account alongside the room, location and hotel facilities when comparing options.

I’d check the price for your own dates and see what is included. The simple but spacious room, quiet nights and convenient location worked well for us; whether they justify the rate will depend on what you’re offered.

Would I stay at INNSiDE Liverpool again?

Yes, I would consider staying again, although I would check the price and bathroom layout before booking. I liked the location for exploring the waterfront, enjoyed the artwork and décor, and appreciated being able to have breakfast, dinner and a drink in the hotel.

The moments I remember are quite simple: finding cold drinks in the fridge after being out, looking at the art on the first floor and sitting down to dinner with my sister on our first evening.

INNSiDE Liverpool worked well as our base for three nights. My main advice would be to compare rates for your dates and decide how much you value the location and hotel facilities. For me, the quiet room and convenient location were real strengths. The open bathroom was the compromise, particularly when sharing with my sister.
