Planning a trip to the capital of the Grand Est region (previously Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine) and wondering where to stay in Strasbourg? During my visit last September, I stayed in the lovely voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden. The hotel is ideally located close to the train station and attractions, making it an perfect choice for your stay in Strasbourg.

Strasbourg is the capital and largest city of the Grand Est region of France and is the official seat of the European Parliament. The vibrant city has lots to offer for a short weekend getaway, a business trip, or a base for a more extended stay exploring the region. Its unmissable cultural attractions include Petite France and its picturesque canals, Strasbourg Cathedral, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Grande Ile and more.

Great location

voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden is an excellent choice because of its location. It is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Strasbourg station. The prime location makes it easier to travel to other cities, thus broadening your field of region discoveries. As well as being close to the train station, the hotel is also within walking distance to the main attractions, including Petite France, Neustadt, and Place Kléber. There is a bus station nearby which is convenient on rainy days.
First impression of voco Strasbourg hotel
The 4-star hotel is perfect for all types of travellers, whether you are visiting as a tourist or for work. voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden looks simple from the outside but once you step through the door, you’ll find yourself in a little oasis of greenery (tropical plants and green walls). The botanical theme creates an heaven of calm and serenity in the middle of the city.

The check-in was quick, easy, and welcoming. The staff were attentive and available throughout my stay. The hotel took all sanitary measures.
Beautifully designed rooms
The voco hotel has 120 rooms. The rooms are modern yet elegantly decorated. Depending on your budget and preferences, you have the choice between a standard queen room, premium queen room with sofa bed, a king junior suite or king suite with sofa. The suites have balconies where you can unwind on a nice day.

I booked a standard queen room and received a complimentary upgrade to a premium queen room with a sofa bed. The room came with a big flat-screen TV, Nespresso coffee machine, minibar, excellent WIFI, and water bottles. The differences between the standard and premium rooms were the size, the sofa bed and some of the premium rooms include a balcony. My room didn’t have one, which wasn’t an issue.
I loved the natural design of the room with the lovely wallpaper. The tones of the room with the blue and orange are both relaxing and energising.

As well as the Nespresso machine, there was a kettle with organic teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. The sofa located near the windows created a lounge area, great for resting after a long day of sightseeing. Plus, the large windows helps the natural lights in the room. The comfortable bed, including all the other amenities in the room, make it a place you feel happy to stay in after a long day.
In a similar look and feel, the bathroom was nice and clean with a powerful rain shower head.
Tropical themed restaurant & bar
Guests can eat breakfast from 6 am to 10 am, daily. I loved the breakfast spread: delicious pastries and cakes, variety of bread, good selection of local cheeses and charcuteries, seasonal fruits, hot food including scrambled eggs… The breakfast was excellent.

The hotel respected the regulations related to Covid 19. Only guests with a vaccine pass could use the restaurant and other public places.
For lunch or dinner, guests can dine at The Garden, the hotel’s garden-themed restaurant or get a drink and snack at the Garden’s Lounge Bar. I have not eaten at the hotel but enjoyed a drink at the bar and enjoyed the evening breeze on the restaurant terrace.
Amenities – Wellness & Spa

The voco hotel has a pool and a fitness centre located on the ground floor. They require booking before using. Although I did not use the gym, I did book the swimming pool. Guests were allowed an hour window which was perfectly fine by me. I enjoyed the heated pool and a steam room. The decor was nice and relaxing thanks to the deck chairs, plant walls and the starry ceiling .
Sustainability

The hotel and voco brand is committed to sustainability with aerated showerheads to limit water consumption. The bedding is made from recycled plastic, while glass bottles in the rooms have replaced plastic bottles. Large containers are available in the bathroom instead of smaller personal toiletries, generating 80% less waste.
