OKKO Hotels Nice Aéroport: The perfect hotel for a stay in the French Riviera

You know that feeling when you’re planning a trip and trying to find accommodation that doesn’t make you choose between convenience and style? Well, my sister and I just discovered the perfect airport hotel during our recent trip to Nice, and I’m honestly still thinking about it weeks later.

Let me tell you about OKKO Hotels Nice Aéroport – a place that completely changed my perspective on what an airport hotel can be.

Location: Steps away from the airport

Here’s the thing about this hotel that had me sold from the moment I arrived: you can literally walk from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport’s Terminal 1 in under 15 minutes. I’m talking about a pleasant stroll, not some exhausting airport trek with your luggage bouncing behind you.

But here’s where it gets even better – if walking isn’t your thing (totally understandable after a long flight), there’s a super easy one-stop tram ride on Line B or L2. Hop off at Grand Arénas, walk five more minutes, and you’re there.

The hotel sits in Nice’s Grand Arénas district, which is basically the city’s vibrant new business neighbourhood. Now, I’ll be honest – it doesn’t have that old-world French charm you might be expecting. But what it lacks in historic cobblestones, it makes up for in being incredibly well-connected and peacefully quiet. Perfect for when you want to explore the romantic old town during the day, but come back to somewhere serene at night.

Design & Atmosphere

I have to admit, I was sceptical about staying at an airport hotel. My brain was prepared for beige walls and that generic hotel smell. Instead, I walked into what felt like a carefully curated Scandinavian retreat.

The whole place has this warm, minimalist vibe going on – think natural wood accents, cosy textures, and those neutral tones that somehow make you feel instantly relaxed. It’s like someone took the best parts of a boutique hotel and an upscale hostel and created something entirely new.

With 135 rooms spread across seven floors, it never felt crowded or chaotic. They’ve put the reception and bar area (called “Le Club”) on the eighth floor, and the views are honestly gorgeous.

Our sixth-floor standard room was bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed – but it’s definitely on the cosy side. If you’re travelling as a couple with massive suitcases or you’re someone who needs space to spread out, you might feel a bit cramped.

That said, they’ve made every inch count. The queen bed was seriously comfortable (those organic linens were chef’s kiss), and I loved the charging stations with USB ports right by the bed – no more hunting for outlets or untangling cords.

The bathroom setup is pretty clever too. There’s a wooden screen separating the shower area from the bed, and the toilet gets its own little private space. The sink is out in the open, which I know sounds weird, but somehow works perfectly.

Oh, and there’s a Nespresso machine in the closet, because apparently OKKO knows exactly what tired travellers need.

The Club: A Relaxed, All-Inclusive Lounge

This is where OKKO completely won me over. Their “Club” concept is basically a communal lounge that’s included with your stay, and it’s open 24/7. Free snacks, coffee, soft drinks, tea – all day long.

But here’s the real deal: every evening from 6 to 8 PM, they host an Italian-inspired aperitivo. We’re talking complimentary charcuterie, cheese, savoury tarts, tapenade, and fresh vegetables, all paired with local wines. It’s like having a dinner party every night with fellow travellers.

The space itself is perfect for digital nomads or anyone who needs to get work done. Cosy corners for reading, proper business areas, and comfortable seating throughout. It gave the whole place this modern guesthouse vibe that I absolutely loved.

The Breakfast at OKKO Hotels Nice Aéroport

While we didn’t try the breakfast (we were too busy exploring Nice’s café culture), I peeked at the spread and was impressed. Fresh croissants, eggs, local cheeses, fruits, and all the French breakfast staples you’d want.

The daily happy hour became our little ritual – there’s something special about unwinding with a glass of wine or refreshing Coke and good snacks after a day of wandering the Riviera. And knowing that coffee and cookies were always available in the Club? Pure comfort.

The Rooftop Surprise

They’ve got this sweet little rooftop terrace that’s perfect for warmer months. It’s not huge, but it’s the kind of spot where you can actually picture yourself reading a book or having a quiet moment after a busy day of sightseeing.

Getting Around the Riviera

One thing that made this location absolutely perfect for us was how easy it was to explore. The Promenade des Anglais is just 10 minutes away by tram, Old Town Nice is totally accessible, and there’s even Phoenix Park right next door for morning walks.

We used the hotel as our base for day trips along the coast, and the train and bus connections made everything so simple. Honestly, it was the perfect setup for the kind of trip where you want to see everything but still have a peaceful place to come back to.

Staff and Service

I have to give major props to the OKKO staff – they were genuinely friendly and helpful in that authentic French way. After staying at another hotel in Nice earlier in our trip (which shall remain nameless but was… not great), walking into OKKO felt like a breath of fresh air.

Who Should Book This Place?

This hotel is absolutely perfect if you’re:

  • A solo traveller who appreciates good design and communal spaces
  • Someone flying in late or out early who doesn’t want to sacrifice style for convenience
  • A digital nomad looking for a workspace that doesn’t feel like a generic business hotel
  • Couples or friends who want a chic base for exploring the Riviera
  • Anyone who loves the idea of built-in happy hour and 24/7 snacks

The Bottom Line

I’ve stayed at a lot of airport hotels, and most of them are just… fine. OKKO Hotels Nice Aéroport is something entirely different. It’s stylish without being pretentious, convenient without being soulless, and social without being overwhelming.

The Club concept alone makes this place worth considering, but add in the thoughtful design, genuinely helpful staff, and unbeatable location, and you’ve got something special.

Whether you’re starting your French Riviera adventure or ending it, OKKO feels less like a stopover and more like a destination in itself. And honestly? That’s exactly what a good hotel should be.

Planning your own Nice adventure? This place books up fast, especially during peak season – just saying!
