Imagine you lived in your neighbourhood for years and you have passed the same restaurant without even realising that it’s there. I would have continued missing this great local called “The Sitara” if not for my brother-in-law taking me there on Friday.
The Sitara
The Sitara is small family-run restaurant serving Punjabi recipes, headed by the owner Raj Singh and his father. The particularity of this small eatery is that they have live Jazz music once a month however not on the day we visited, the place was nonetheless buzzing.
The atmosphere and décor have an element of uniqueness but also similarity with your traditional curry house, with the loud music, bright red walls and posters of famous jazz musician like Frank Sinatra and members of the “Rat Pack”.
Delicious food
We started of straight away with the main – Saag Gosht, chargilled Chicken Tikka and the chicken special were excellent. The veggie options, including the Mixed Vegetable Curry and the Okra special were star choices too. As mentioned by the owner, the food is prepared on demand so everything is fresh. On the downside, you will have to wait a little but with great music and company, you will not even notice it.
The shop front of the Sitara doesn’t give much away but step inside and you will be sold on the food, atmosphere and the friendliness of the family.
As always thanks for reading. Please let me know what you think in the comments . Also do follow me here, on Instagram and Facebook 😉 – SecretMoona.
